Birth Doula Discovery Call

This Is YOUR Pregnancy

This pregnancy is about you. Your feelings, your confidence, your power. It's about you feeling like the strongest version of yourself as you step into motherhood.

Let's be honest — a doula isn't a flashy thing. It's not woo woo, and it's not about candles and crystals (but I do love them both!). It's simply about having someone there for YOU. Someone who knows your story, who's walking this journey alongside you, and who gives you real continuity of care from start to finish.

I have a feeling I know you a little bit already.

You're the kind of person who gives everything 100%. Booking a holiday? You've read every review. Moving to a new area? You've researched the schools, the transport links, the vibe of every street. So why would pregnancy be any different?

You don't want to feel daunted by this. You want to feel excited. You want to do things properly, so that you feel informed and in control, not caught off guard. And here's the thing — you actually enjoy that process. The podcasts on your morning walk. The books stacked by your bed. The late-night deep dives into birth options, feeding, recovery, all of it. You want to properly understand your pregnancy, because that's what makes it feel exciting rather than scary.

You're strong. You're capable. You make informed decisions — you always have. But even the most capable people benefit from someone to talk things through with. Someone to lay out all the options honestly, without an agenda, so that when you do make your decision, you know it's the right one for you.

And maybe none of that is quite your story. Maybe this isn't your first time.

Perhaps you've done this before — second time, third time — and last time didn't go the way you'd hoped. Maybe there's trauma from a previous birth that you're carrying into this one. This time, you want to do things differently. You want more information, more choice, more say. You know your rights, and you're determined that this birth will be one you remember for the right reasons. Perhaps you're planning a VBAC. Perhaps you're expecting twins and you simply need an extra pair of hands and a steady presence through the pregnancy and the birth itself.

Whatever your reasons, you've looked into everything. You've done the work. You just want to do it better this time.

Or maybe you're doing this on your own. A solo mum, building this journey independently, and you want support that helps you feel confident, that helps you believe in yourself and your purpose — someone by your side, every step of the way, so you never feel like you're doing this alone.

Or perhaps your family is far away. Not close enough to be there for the day-to-day, the appointments, the moments you wish you could share with someone. You want that practical, hands-on support nearby — someone who shows up.

Wherever you're starting from, this is your journey, and I'm here to walk it with you.

Supporting Births Across South London, Surrey & Kent

Hi, I'm Kelly, a pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula covering South London, Surrey and Kent.

I love my job, and it means everything to me.

I've given birth three times myself, all of which were different environments and experiences!

Since then, I've supported many kinds of births, from preterm home births, water births in birth centres, planned and emergency C Sections and medicalised births on the labour ward.

Pregnancy, birth, babies, the whole magic of motherhood — I've been drawn to it for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, my dream was to be a midwife. Life took me down a different path for a while, but when my husband retired after 30 years of shiftwork, it gave me the space to chase that dream properly and become a birth worker.

I trained as a doula with Conscious Birthing as well as the Happy Baby Community, and I'm a certified member of Doula UK. I'm also a qualified Hypnobirthing teacher and trained with Katherine Graves, founder of KG HypnoBirthing.

My approach is intuitive, compassionate, and completely tailored to you, because no two families are the same! You shouldn't be squeezed into a one-size-fits-all package. I believe every family deserves to feel safe, supported, informed and truly heard, and I'll always show up for you in exactly the way I would for my close friends and family.

Expect warmth, honesty, a listening ear — and usually a good giggle!

I don't wear dungarees, have a breastfeeding agenda or a single tattoo lol, just a Mum and Nan who will have your back when you need looking after.

A Little More About Me

When I'm not working, you'll find me out on a walk, either in the countryside or exploring London. I love to potter in my garden at home where I live with my husband, my youngest son, two cats and my dog.

I'm happiest mooching around a vintage market or charity shops, buying treasures for my home and garden.

When it comes to holidays, the Greek Islands have my heart, but going on safari is a dream of mine — nature, in all its forms, fills my soul. Music is big for me too, something you may discover with my library of labour playlists which includes everything from chilled classical, tribal drumming to disco, soul, ska and house music.

How I Support You

Throughout your pregnancy, I'm there for full support — available on WhatsApp whenever you or your partner has questions or concerns, big or small. I'll help you explore your pain relief options, talk through your rights and options, and work through your birth plan with you.

When your labour starts, I'm there every step of the way, completely focused on you.

Once your baby arrives, I offer bespoke postnatal care, from light household tasks and preparing meals, to accompanying you on those first tentative adventures out into the world with your newborn.

If you think I might be the right doula for you, I'd love to have a chat about what you need, and how I can support you on this exciting journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please get in touch at kellybaker@southlondondoula.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

What are the benefits of having a Doula?

Doulas can prevent trauma by providing practical, emotional and nurturing support to the whole family during pregnancy, labour and after the birth of a baby. By offering information, and promoting self advocacy doulas give confidence which can be very empowering in helping people to expect safe and respectful maternity and postpartum care.

How Doulas Reduce the Risk of Trauma

The benefits of continuous support during labour and birth were highlighted in a Cochrane review, which analysed data from 26 studies across 17 countries involving more than 15,000 women. The following outcomes were observed for women and birth parents who were given continuous support from a doula or labour companion.

● More likely to have a vaginal birth (without the need for caesarean, forceps or vacuum extraction)
● Less likely to use pain medications
● More likely to have shorter labours
● More likely to be satisfied with their birth and postnatal experience
● The babies may be less likely to have low five-minute Apgar scores, which assess babies’ health and well-being at birth and shortly afterward
● Increased equity directly through improved women’s empowerment and provision of culturally responsive care, and indirectly by reducing the over-medicalisation of childbirth
● Increased likelihood of initiating and establishing breastfeeding

A difficult labour, lack of support, an unplanned caesarean section or emergency treatment for the mother/birth parent or baby can contribute to the risk of experiencing trauma.

Doula support can therefore reduce the risk of experiencing perinatal trauma.

When should I book a Doula?

It is never too early to book a Doula but usually from 20 weeks is a good time.

Are Doulas expensive?

Babies are only born once! No, you can not put a price on your well being and feeling supported in your pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

I offer bespoke payment plans to my clients to make it affordable for all as everybody deserves a doula.

What my clients say

I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten through my pregnancy and birth without Kelly. From the moment we met, she felt like a trusted friend—someone who truly listened, reassured me when I had doubts, and celebrated every little milestone with me.

I didn’t have much family support during my pregnancy, and that made the journey feel even more overwhelming at times. But Kelly stepped in and filled that space with so much care and kindness. She was always there—whether it was answering my late-night texts, checking in just to see how I was feeling, or reminding me that I was strong and capable when I felt alone.

During labor, Kelly’s presence became absolutely invaluable. She knew exactly what I needed—sometimes even before I did. Her gentle words, calming touch, and unwavering encouragement helped me stay focused and trust my body. She was there for my partner too, making sure he felt supported and involved.

Looking back, I can’t imagine my birth experience without her. Kelly made me feel safe, empowered, and truly cared for at a time when I needed it most. I am forever grateful for her kindness, wisdom, and support. If you’re looking for a doula who will go above and beyond, Kelly is the one.

As a first-time dad, I was not sure what to expect during pregnancy and birth, but having you as our doula made all the difference. Your knowledge, calm presence, and genuine care helped with preparations and instilled a sense of empowerment every step of the way. You supported not only the mother of my daughter, but also me — answering questions, calming nerves, and making sure we both felt seen and heard. I am truly grateful for everything you did to guide us through such a life-changing experience. Thank you for being such a steady, compassionate presence. We could not have done it without you.

Thank you!

Zach

It would not be an exaggeration to say that meeting Kelly has changed our lives, with her helping to bring our baby girl into the world exactly how we had hoped - with unwavering support, positivity and laughter. Kelly was instrumental in us achieving a home birth, after we hit numerous brick walls due to our postcode/lack of team/funding. Had we not have met Kelly, we almost certainly would not have had a home birth - for that alone I am forever grateful.
Late into my pregnancy, my partner was offered a freelance job out of town, close to my due date. As such, we decided to get a doula on board in case I were to go into labour, so that I would have someone on hand immediately. Prior to that, I thought a doula was an unnecessary expense (for what its worth, I now think it's possibly the best investment we have ever made). As soon as I met Kelly for the first time, I knew straight away she was the doula for us; funny, thoughtful and perceptive. Having only met once, my waters broke later that week, 3 weeks early. My partner was travelling back from abroad, but though not officially on call for me yet, Kelly came over immediately and stayed with me until my partner returned later that evening. I felt completely at ease with Kelly in my home, and started my labour relaxed and happy!
I had a protracted early labour, with 3.5 days between my waters breaking and baby arriving. Kelly provided a huge amount of moral support prior to established labour, when I was feeling a lot of external pressure to be induced. I have not felt as cared for as an adult as those days running up to the birth - Kelly baked a cake for us, made ceremonial cacao for me, provided massage, breathwork...she even brought over a large paddling pool when we thought our birthing pool wasn't going to arrive on time! Those quiet moments helped to keep me calm and relaxed and conserve much needed energy. When not at our house, Kelly was always at the end of the phone. In the early hours, the Freya app confirmed I was in established labour and Kelly came over immediately, and kept me calm with more breath work and positions etc before the midwife arrived a little later on.
The birth itself was hard but such an incredible experience, and a lot of that is thanks to Kelly. She intuitively anticipated what I might want/need, and even made up a drink recipe I didn't get chance to make, to help me through labour. Throughout, Kelly was so encouraging, and I still feel bad at how hard I gripped her hands whilst contracting...she may be small, but she is a force!
I think it's also important to mention that Kelly worked incredibly well with our midwives. I have been told there can be friction between doulas and midwives on occasion, but this was not the case for us - they were a dream team, respecting each others' practice but working together throughout. Again, this made for a calm and smooth experience.
Having a relative stranger in your home could be uncomfortable, but Kelly felt like a long standing friend, and I think has become just that. We still see each other and she will remain an important part of our lives as our daughter grows up - I couldn't recommend more. Thank you, Kelly <3
